Following some technical difficulties in the first instalment, Haydn Porteous put Compleat Golfer‘s playing editor, Brandon Stone, to the sword in Sunday’s Virtual Golf Challenge.
Porteous’ WiFi went down during last week’s clash and with Stone in red-hot form with the remote, it was deemed victory for the 2016 South African Open champion.
But, this time around the 25-year-old Porteous was as composed as ever and, despite quite a nerve-wracking final hole, he managed to edge Stone by two shots.
In his post-match interview the emotions clearly took over as Porteous sized the special moment and thanked his parents for the financial help they’ve given him over the years, while he also paid special tribute to his opponent Stone.
‘To everyone else, please stay safe, stay home, be cool and to Brandon, you suck,’ said a delighted Porteous.
Asked if Stone would like to respond to the sympathy shown by Porteous, he too was left speechless after that tight battle, simply replying ‘No.’
