Xander Schauffele drained two long putts but it was a putt inside three feet that caused his grip on the Charles Schwab Challenge to slip away.
After two dramatic putts at 15 and 16 – one for bogey and one for birdie – the American star was left to look on in agony as his effort on the 17th did not drop. He ended one short of the playoff number ultimately won by Daniel Berger.
Unbelievable.
Co-leader Xander Schauffele’s ball lips out on the 17th hole.
He makes bogey to fall 1 back with 1 to play.
Golf is heartbreaking. pic.twitter.com/1X90JNiQpk
