McIlroy lost his Friday four-ball (with Thorbjørn Olesen), his Saturday foursome (with Ian Poulter) and his Sunday singles clash with Justin Thomas.
But, the Northern Irishman managed victories in his Friday foursome (with Poulter) and his Saturday four-ball (with Sergio Garcia), finishing as one of three to play all five matches over the course of the weekend.
He even proved some doubters wrong, making it clear on the green that ‘I can putt, I can putt’.
