Ernie Els surprised everyone at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in 2012 by winning The Open Championship for the second time in his career.
Australia’s Adam Scott had a four-shot lead with four holes remaining but would go on to bogey the final four holes to miss out on a playoff with Els, who was already in the clubhouse, but instead the South African walked away with a one-shot victory and his fourth Major title.
