The first round of the Altron Big Easy Tour Play-Off tournament was called off due to inclement at Irene Country Club on Tuesday.
The top 50 players on the Order of Merit qualified for this penultimate event of the season but Tuesday’s opening round was suspended due to heavy rains and an unplayable course.
“The tournament office decided to suspend the opening round due to the bad weather we have been experiencing here,” said tournament director Ludwick Manyama. “The course proved impossible to play as most of it was waterlogged and we couldn’t allow the round to go on.
“We pride ourselves in staging professional golf tournaments at a high level and we believe that every tournament is an opportunity for our members to showcase their talents and skills. The Tour takes the safety of our members seriously and as such, suspending the first round was the only viable option.”
The opening round resumes on Wednesday morning.
