Louis Oosthuizen
Oosthuizen has showed some signs of promise since the start of the year with good performances in the Middle East. He also came close to defending his SA Open title at the Randpark Golf Club in January and will be eager to hit the ground running in Mexico this week after a bit of a break. The World No 17 has credited his swing as an improved aspect of his game that has provided him with a great deal of confidence. His putting has also been heating up nicely as the year progresses.
Branden Grace
Grace has made an emphatic start to 2020 by winning the SA Open last month. The relief felt from adding that elusive prize has provided him with the necessary confidence to have a great year around the world. Grace also appointed a new putting coach last year and took up a new management team, something he believes has made his job of performing on the course a lot easier. He held his own at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Arizona at the beginning of February where he finished in T9. A missed cut at the Genesis Invitational could have him spring quickly out of the gate in Mexico.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout
The 25-year-old will be riding high after his win at Fancourt, which saw him break into the top 50 on the Official World Golf Ranking. His jump – up 12 places from 60th to 48th – puts him second among his countrymen. Bezuidenhout did exceptionally well to hold on for a win at the Dimension Data Pro-Am and he showed great determination to fight off a late charge by George Coetzee. He has been in excellent form for some time now and narrowly missed out on victory at the Saudi International when he lost in playoff to Lucas Herbert. The WGC will be an opportunity for Bezuidenhout to relish and motivate him to claim another solid finish with monetary and rankings gains to be had.
Shaun Norris, Justin Harding, Erik van Rooyen and Zander Lombard are all in the field this week.
