Phil was a rollercoaster in 2018

As the curtain closes on another year, we give you a reminder of some of the talking points from the world of golf. Who polarised the world of golf more than Phil Mickelson?

The veteran returned to the winner’s circle in March at the WGC-Mexico, but that victory was sent deep into the archives after his meltdown at the US Open.

The notorious Shinnecock Hills ripped the field apart before the golf world was left stunned by Mickelson hitting a moving ball.

The rules infringement shocked our digital editor, who wrote about his dislike of Mickelson and questioned what golf is about if you aren’t disqualifying players,

Even Beef Johnston was left stunned.

At first, Phil insisted he was playing by the rules. Later, he texted his apology before conceding his mistake.

The incident left a stain on his remarkable record which saw him add a unique World Rankings feat in November when he made it 25 years in the top 50.

And don’t forget his dance moves in August… watch his moves HERE!

A disastrous Ryder Cup – zero points from only two matches – was another black mark on his year before ending 2018 with the money-in-your-face exhibition match against Tiger Woods.

    Quite a year …
