As the curtain closes on another year, we give you a reminder of some of the talking points from the world of golf. First up, looking at the four Majors and the stories that unfolded.
An elite field produced some sporting drama of the finest at one of the most esteemed venues before taking it to the final putt on the 72nd hole to determine the winner.
Sunday at Shinnecock Hills was by no means a repeat of 2017’s bruising of Erin Hills, as the burly American made very few mistakes and putted like a genius.
It was a Sunday for the ages – not a repeat of the titanic Stenson vs Mickelson duel from two years ago, but rather an 18-hole exhibition where any number of 10 players could’ve won. 10 became one as Molinari produced a flawless round fending off the threat of Tiger Woods.
The Italian was also named Europe’s number one.
PGA Championship – Brooks Koepka
Brooks Koepka held off a packed leaderboard with a commanding performance to collect his second Major triumph of the year at the PGA Championship on Sunday.
Koepka’s victory at Bellerive made him the first person since Tiger Woods, who once again challenged late on a Major Sunday, to win the US Open and the PGA Championship in the same season.
