PGA Tour Championship winner Tiger Woods, who won his first tournament in five years, has been nominated in the Laureus World Comeback of the Year category.
The now 80-time winner enjoyed a strong 2018 as he contended on a number of occasions, including at the Open Championship and the PGA Championship before winning the FedExCup finale.
The win completed Woods’ return to the highest level of golf as he saw his world ranking return to the top 15.
Alongside Woods is India’s first-ever Laureus nominee, wrestling champion Vinesh Phogat, and four inspirational Winter Olympic comeback athletes, Japanese figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu, Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris, US ski racing legend Lindsey Vonn and Dutch Paralympic champion Bibian Mentel-Spee.
The victorious European Ryder Cup team were named as nominees in the Laureus World Team of the Year.
Thomas Bjorn’s side face competition from Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team, France’s men’s football team, Champions League winners Real Madrid, the Norway Winter Olympic team and the Golden State Warriors.

The world’s sports media have selected the highest achieving men, women and teams over the past calendar year as the nominees for the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards, the world’s pre-eminent international sports awards.
The Laureus World Sports Awards, which recognise sporting achievements during 2018, are the premier honours on the international sporting calendar. The winners, voted by the 66 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, will be unveiled at the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco on 18 February.
