The PGA TOUR have confirmed that American Nick Watney has withdrawn from the RBC Heritage after testing positive for the coronavirus.
The World No 234, who missed the cut last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge, opened with a 74 and is the first player to test positive since the tour resumed play. He played with Vaughn Taylor and Luke List on Thursday.
A tour statement revealed that he withdrew prior to the start of round two after consulting a physician after showing symptoms for the virus. The tour is now conducting tracing those who may have come into contact with Watney while also working on implementing its response plan.
Watney, who will go into isolation, arrived privately and not on the tour provided charter flight. He tested negative upon arrival, one of the 369 players, caddies and staff to do so this week.
