Compleat Golfer‘s playing editor, Brandon Stone, proved on Sunday that his golfing ability is just as good virtually as it is in real life by beating fellow South African Haydn Porteous in the third round of the Sunshine Tour Virtual Golf Challenge.
The two golfers went head to head in a simulator-created game at Glendower Golf Club and it didn’t take long before their competitive natures arose.

Porteous, though, struggled a bit more throughout his round, while Stone held his nerve, proving his consistency in this virtual format.
The commentary during the battle was pure golf with Stone telling the story of the big following he had during a Dunhill Links round a couple of years ago.
Partnered with former Ireland rugby captain Paul O’Connell, Stone was eager to see who Tyrrell Hatton, who they were playing against, was drafted with.
Unaware of who Hatton’s partner was, Stone walked to the first tee-box at St Andrews where a massive crowd was gathered.
‘I realised the crowd that was assembling behind the tee-box was not the standard crowd. Most of them were aged between 16 and 30 and 90% of them were female. So I thought maybe Tyrrell Hatton is ticking all the boxes for the Scottish women.
‘Then I promptly realised that Hatton’s partner for the week was none other than 50 Shades of Grey starring actor Jamie Dornan.’
