Justin Walters produced a brilliant second-round performance on Friday to move into contention at the Austrian Golf Open ahead of the weekend’s action.
The South African shot a composed four-under-par 68 to move up to 4th spot on the leaderboard on five under – two strokes behind leader Alejandro Canizares.
The Spaniard maintained his overnight lead with a second-round 70, while John Catlin and Martin Kaymer are a single stroke behind on six under at the halfway mark of the event.

After a brilliant first round on Thursday, Jacques Kruyswijk had to settle for an even-par showing on Friday, which saw him remain on four under par ahead of moving day.
With the cut set at three over par, Zander Lombard (-2) and Garrick Higgo (-1) were the only two other South Africans to qualify for the weekend.
Dean Burmester (+5), Haydn Porteous (+6), Justin Harding (+7), Bryce Easton (+7) and Louis de Jager (+7) all missed the cut after Friday’s second round.
