Walmer Country Club in Port Elizabeth has reportedly shut its doors for the final time amid financial issues and increasingly difficult trading circumstances.
The 76-year-old club has been brought to its knees by the current economic climate, reports a local radio station.

The closure, sped up by an ever-increasing electricity bill, will result in 12 staff members losing their jobs.
Club pro Gary Packer has confirmed to Compleat Golfer that he will be closing his on-course shop and quitting the golf industry due to years of financial pressure.
Club president Mike Crichton is hopeful that a deal with St Christopher’s School may yet transpire, but confirmed to Radio Algoa that the club will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
