Dwayne Basson, Nikhil Rama, Oliver Bekker and Heinrich Bruiners will contest Sunday’s two semi-finals for a spot in the final of the first Virtual Sunshine Tour Knockout at the Soweto Country Club.
All four players overcame their opponents in Saturday’s first instalment of matches, which was live-streamed by the Sunshine Tour on Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.
Sunshine Tour launches virtual comp
In the first clash of the day, Basson beat Thabiso Ngcobo in a three-hole playoff after making a late surge in his round, while Nikhil Rama completely outplayed Dylan Mostert to claim an impressive six-shot victory.

Seven-time Sunshine Tour winner Oliver Bekker also cruised to a win at the Soweto Country Club in his clash with Cassandra Hall.
In the final match of the day, 32-year-old Heinrich Bruiners took on the back-to-back winner of the past season’s Sunshine Ladies Tour, Lejan Lewthwaite, and after a quite tightly contested matchup, Bruiners emerged victorious by two strokes to claim the final semi-final spot for Sunday.

The first semifinal will get under way at 12:00 on Sunday with the all important final due to start at 15:00 and will again be live for viewers to tune in. The winner of the competition will take home a cheque of R3000.
