The Vodacom Origins of Golf series of pro-am tournaments has played a major role in promoting the sport of golf and helping it grow.
Since 2023 the tournament has been making a noteworthy effort to promote gender equality. To support women-owned businesses, we teamed up with local brand ITU Golf to be the official clothing partner for Vodacom Origins of Golf.
Also for the first time, professional women golfers participated in the event, competing for equal prize money to the men. This was just one of many steps Vodacom has been taking towards levelling the playing field both on the golf course and in boardrooms.
Breaking gender barriers
In 2023, the prize fund was increased to a minimum of R2-million for both the Sunshine Tour and Sunshine Ladies Tour professionals. The initiative recognises the skills and abilities of female golfers and serves as a positive example for businesses – encouraging them to embrace and promote gender equity.
The Sunshine Tour will also collaborate with leading international sports attire brands. Competitors will have access to a range of high-quality golf clothing from Titleist, FootJoy, and Adidas designed to inspire top performance on the greens.
To meet the needs of today’s busy lifestyle, the tournament organisers have arranged dedicated workspaces for the players. By using Vodacom’s advanced technology and network, golfers and their partners can stay connected and catch up on work-related tasks while still being able to focus on preparing for the game.
The tournament will also make use of technology to provide live score updates, delivering real-time excitement to fans while boosting the competitive atmosphere.
We’re inviting all golfers and small business owners to be part of this significant event. Stand a chance to win tickets and accommodation to the Vodacom Origins of Golf tournament or experience the thrill of playing alongside the pros and competing for the grand prize.
#TurnToUs and tee up for success at the 2023 Vodacom Origins of Golf.
