South Africa’s Daniel van Tonder leads the Kenya Savannah Classic at the halfway mark after a brilliant second-round showing on Wednesday.
Van Tonder, who has been in superb form on the domestic front with the Sunshine Tour, is in a good position to earn his maiden victory on the European Tour with two rounds to go in Nairobi.
The 30-year-old carded a seven-under-par 64 for his second round to move to 13 under for the event where he holds a one-shot lead over countryman Justin Hardin and Scotland’s David Drysdale, who are both in T2.

Harding started the day as the overnight leader and appears to be relishing the challenges of the Karen Country Club, following his victory this past weekend.

Hot on their heals, however, is another South African in Darren Fichardt, continuing his excellent recent run of form with a second-round 66.
Fichardt will start Thursday’s action in T4 alongside Masahiro Kawamura and Niklas Lemke on 11 under par for the week.
