Scandinavian Invitation winner Erik van Rooyen is one of three golfers in line for the European Tour’s Golf of the Month award.
Equipment: What Erik has in the bag
Van Rooyen birdied the 72nd hole to win his first European Tour event after two solid years of work. He edged out Matthew Fitzpatrick with Henrik Stenson and countryman Dean Burmester sharing third.
The win booked Van Rooyen a place in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship after jumping into the top ten of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.
The South African, who was last season’s European Challenge Tour Graduate of the Year, faces competition from England’s consistent performer Sam Horsfield and Czech Masters winner Thomas Pieters for the monthly award.
Pieters won his fourth title in Prague where Van Rooyen finished in a share of fifth before breaking through.
