US Kids is proud to present the US Kids Big 5 South Africa Open where we will be awarding Priority Status to boys and girls aged 5 to 18 years.
The Big 5 South African Open will take place at the prestigious Zebula Golf Estate and Spa. The course is located in a basin of the most pristine African bushveld. Surrounded by game lodges, nature and wildlife reserves, Zebula certainly boasts one of the best locations for a bushveld course. It’s not all looks though; the Peter Matkovich designed course reveals his usual flair for being both challenging and accommodating. Peter went of his way to ensure the land’s natural contours were followed. This results in a seamlessly integrated bushveld course that is second to none.

US Kids Golf was the first youth golf organization to provide age and gender-appropriate yardages for junior golf competitions so that players could aspire to make pars and birdies in tournaments. Additionally, the organization pioneered the aspect of ‘parent-caddies’, bringing parents inside the ropes to make them a part of the competition, and bringing the family closer together during tournament rounds.
Today, US Kids Golf operates more than 1,800 tournaments around the world, with Local Tours in over 100 markets, and state, regional, and international competitions attracting the very best young players.
The US Kids Golf World Championship is the premier championship event for young players, ages 5-18, attracting more than 2.000 players and families from over 50 countries around the world. The event is held each year in historic Pinehurst, North Carolina, and surrounding areas. Participants who qualify for the Van Horn Cup then compete on iconic Pinehurst No. 2 course for the final event of the championship week.
The US Kids Golf World Championship was the subject of the 2013 Netflix documentary, The Short Game which followed a number of young players in their quest to become world champions. The highly-rated film was produced by Justin Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel. Top performers within U.S. Kids Golf are also recognised as ‘Players of the Year’ (Boys & Girls) and are honoured by Honda prior to the PGA TOUR’s Honda Classic.
The Mission
US Kids Golf was started as a family business desiring to stay true to the mission and purpose of bringing kids into the game. Because providing the right equipment needed to be coupled with improved programs, coaching, and opportunity for competition, like other organized sports, the Foundation was started.
The vision of families spending time together outdoors and playing golf is our true passion, and many people throughout the golf industry have joined us in our efforts. We are thankful for our role in giving kids the lifelong game of golf.
In saying that US Kids Golf has branched out into South Africa. This is to assist boys and Girls aged 5 to 18 to be able to travel all over the world and be exposed in high standard international field representing their own country.
South Africa now have Local Tours (Weekly and monthly rounds) and not only are these fun they are also qualifying events to be able to get a status to qualify for international trips (Priority Status).
