Following the exciting announcement that Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will go head-to-head once again, but this time with the additions of NFL stars Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, the banter and needling is taking shape.
Woods admitted that the trash-talking has been quite active with the 15-time Major champion set to partner with Manning as they team up against Mickelson and Brady for the encounter, which will most likely take place in May.
‘We’ve had banter back and forth, and it’s been fantastic,’ Woods said speaking to Golfworld
‘But it’s typical us, it’s what we do. We like to give out the needle, and to give out the needle you gotta be able to take it. It’s been fun, and it’ll be like that when we play, when we compete. There will be banter back and forth, but it won’t be as rough as what we have in our text exchange.’
The Match: Champions for Charity, as it will be called, will be broadcast live on TNT in America with all proceeds going in aid of the Covid-19 relief effort.
Woods and Mickelson met in a $9 million one-on-one exhibition match in Las Vegas in November 2018.

But, despite the friendly winding-up between the two teams, Woods admits that the main reason for the event is to make a difference and contribute to America’s battle against the coronavirus.
‘But at the end of the day, you have to understand why we’re coming together. We’re coming together to help other people,’ Woods continued.
‘This is different than what Phil and I did two years ago, playing our match in Vegas. That was he and I just having a great time, trying to showcase golf in a different way. We’re coming together to showcase golf in a different way, but it’s about charity. That’s the reason why we’re all doing this.’
