Compleat Golfer‘s playing editor Brandon Stone enjoyed a significant rise in the Race to Dubai standings after his runner-up finish at the Oman Open, writes ANDRE HUISAMEN.
Stone climbed a staggering 51 places on the Race to Dubai, while taking home a more than decent pay cheque of €176,747 (a whopping R3,031,418).
The South African was denied another European Tour win after losing a tightly fought playoff battle with the 21-year-old Sami Välimäki, but the silver lining was not only financial as the South African returned to the top 200 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He woke up on Monday in 160th place after starting the week in 215th.
George Coetzee moved up nine places on the OWGR with his sixth-place finish in Oman and currently occupies the 155th position.
He will be satisfied with the €44,700 (R767,898) he received as he continues to go from strength to strength each week with some consistent performances of late.

With his T17 finish at the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour, Charl Schwartzel had to settle for a $103,250 payout despite being only three shots behind the leader heading into Sunday.
In rands, that is still R1,599,610 which may ease some of the frustrations after his final round where he slipped from contention after a two-over day in Florida.
He did make an impressive rise on the OWGR, though, by also managing to break into the top 200. He will start the week in 195th position, one spot behind Garrick Higgo, who was the Sunshine Tour’s Rookie of the Year.
It was a forgettable week for the country’s two best golfers as both Louis Oosthuizen and Erik van Rooyen missed the mark at the Honda Classic.
Oosthuizen, however, did manage to keep his 18th place in the world with Van Rooyen dropping two places to 42nd, as Jazz Janewattananond and Sergio Garcia surpassed him.
