Richard Sterne shot 66 at The Grove on Thursday to share the lead at the British Masters, continuing from his second-place result at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last week.
The six-time European Tour started the first round this week at five under par and was joint leader with Miko Ilonen, Marc Warren, and Tommy Fleetwood.
Sterne started on the 10th and picked up a first birdie at the par-three 13th, followed up by further red numbers at the 16th and 18th.
His birdie run continued on the first and second, then he made par from the third all the way to the clubhouse for 66.
The South African shot rounds of 65 and 66 on The Old Course at St. Andrews this weekend, and must be close to another victory.
