After 1,351 days since his last win, American Jordan Spieth is finally on the winning path again following his impressive victory at the Valero Texas Open this past Sunday.
Spieth, who has been struggling for consistency for a long time since his 2017 Open Championship triumph, rolled back the years at TPC San Antonio, setting him up brilliantly for this week’s 2021 Masters.
The 27-year-old headed into the final round as co-leader alongside Englishman Matt Wallace. Spieth was on the move early and made good headway with four bogeys on the front nine.

Wallace was a bit slow out of the blocks, while Charley Hoffman shot into contention with a spectacular final-round 66 that had him sign off on 16 under par for the week.
Spieth, though, showed his experience and resilience by carding three more birdies on the back nine to cruise to victory by two strokes.
He signed off with a brilliant final-round six-under-par 66 to end his week’s showing with a winning score on 18 under par for his 12th PGA Tour title.
South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen went one under for his final round at the Texas Open, concluding his week on six under par and in T14.
Branden Grace enjoyed a solid Sunday display, shooting a four-under 68 to finish in T23, while Charl Schwartzel settled for three over par.
It ultimately means that neither of Van Rooyen nor Grace will be in action at Augusta National, including Rickie Fowler, who also misses out on qualification for the Green Jacket for the first time in 11 years.
