In a quiet week for South African golfers, Charl Schwartzel moved up one place while George Coetzee rose five spots in the latest world rankings.
Schwartzel, who finished inside the top 10 at the Valspar Championship, rose one place in Monday’s rankings at the expense of compatriot Louis Oosthuizen, who was forced to give his 27th place to Schwartzel.
South Africa’s best-placed golfer, Branden Grace, dropped one place to 19th with Phil Mickelson moving up one.
Dean Burmester retains his place in the top 100 and was one of five South Africans to move down but remain inside the top 100.
George Coetzee moved up five places to 145 to become the country’s ninth highest ranked player as he moved ahead of Thomas Aiken after his top 10 finish at the Hero Indian Open on Sunday.
At the top of the rankings, the only movement was Henrik Stenson reclaiming his fifth place from Jordan Spieth after the young American traded the place with him last week. Dustin Johnson remains the world number one ahead of Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama. Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia to round out the top 10.
