Dylan Fritelli and Erik van Rooyen tee up at this week’s World Cup of Golf, looking to make it six team titles for South Africa and the first since 2003.
The pair were late stand-ins for Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel after agreeing to head to Melbourne to feature in a star-studded lineup headed by hosts Australia.
The local crowd will have a lot to cheer about with Marc Leishman leading Cameron Smith, but will face plenty of competition with defending champions Denmark (Soren Kjeldsen and Thorbjorn Olesen), China, England and Ireland all sending powerful combinations.
Van Rooyen recently added Graduate of the Year to his strong 2018 season and joins former winner of the award, Frittelli, around the Metropolitan course. They have a mountain to climb if they are to repeat the successes of the five South African sides that have gone on to attain global domination.
