It’s fair to say South Africa’s amateur golfers are over the moon with the latest announcement that they too have been given the go ahead by government to return to the courses.
GolfRSA released a statement on Friday where they said that after lengthy negotiations with the Department of Sport, the country’s courses can finally reopen again on Saturday.
The reaction by golf lovers around the country was something to behold, making it clear that the courses will be rather packed in the days to come, having been closed for a total of 79 days.

All golfers will still, however, be required to adhere to strict health guidelines on the course, while unfortunately for the some, the 19th hole will not be open afterwards as players are advised to leave the premises immediately after their rounds.
‘Whoop whoop …. well done to those who have worked tirelessly and tenuously to get to this moment,’ read one comment, while another paid tribute to GolfRSA’s efforts over the last three weeks, ‘Brilliant – well done to a very tenacious GolfRSA.’
One person even stated that has already booked an early time slot for Saturday morning, ‘Already booked 7h44 tomorrow. Excited to play, but terrified at how I will play!’
