Golf clubs, stocked with $30,000’s worth of cocaine, were intercepted by US Customs and Border Protection officers at the Miami International Airport on Monday.
The delivery was destined for New York and was arriving from Columbia before agents caught the smugglers with the drugs in the golf shafts at the international mail facility.
The protections unit’s port director of field operations Christopher Maston said: ‘Our CBP officers are highly skilled in detecting all types of concealment methods to intercept harmful drugs and to keep them from impacting our communities.’
The cocaine was estimated to be weigh more than a pound.
