Spirits were lifted as clouds dispersed, opening up the skies to glorious sunshine as players looked to take their game to new heights in Round 3 of the 22nd World Amateur Golfers Championship. With one round left in the Championship, Team Singapore has continued to firmly grasp their lead finishing on a well-deserved 835 Nett. Team Vietnam found themselves taking podium for the first time, claiming second place on 853 Nett pushing Team China to third, who now trails by three shots on 856 Nett. Team Malaysia, Indonesia and South Africa are all still in the Top 10, holding fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Team Vietnam A continues to dominate in the Invitational, holding the lead on a 430 Nett with Team Malaysia 1 maintaining their podium position as well, in second place, finishing on a hard-earned 435 Nett. Hot on their heels on a 436 Nett, is Team Indonesia 1 who managed to outmaneuver Swan Management Team Germany from podium to claim third .
All in all, it has been an exciting week of golf with highly contested scores being carded across KwaZulu-Natal’s very best championship courses – Durban Country Club, Beachwood Country Club, Kloof Country Club and Victoria Country Club. As players now approach the final green of the 22nd World Amateur Golfers Championship, it is still anyone’s game as history has proven many times over that to take podium all you need is that one glorious shot. Players who are in the running will now be looking to reassess and strategise their gameplay, while being fully aware that every stroke will count in making or breaking this year’s highly coveted Championship Title and Trophy.
