A number of PGA Tour regulars will compete in the Maridoe Samaritan Fund Invitational at the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas from Tuesday to Thursday.
Despite a $27,000 payout for the highest finishers at the event, the remaining proceeds will be donated to the full-time caddies at the club, who have all suffered a heavy financial loss since the Covid-19 pandemic brought an end to most golf activities across the world.
Some of the tour pros set to make an appearance are Viktor Hovland, Scottie Scheffler and Harry Higgs, while 2015 Masters champion Jordan Spieth, who is one of the members at the club, could play as an official marker in one of the groups.
Spieth confirmed his participation in the event but will be unable to play on Tuesday due to a PGA Tour Players Advisory Council meeting.
The course’s owner, Albert Huddleston, said the club is excited about hosting the fundraiser and looking forward to implement new levels of social distancing on a golf course.
‘Maridoe embraces the social-distancing responsibilities and is particularly suited to meet all the necessary criteria to have a safe and healthy tournament. This was a beautiful opportunity to contribute to the Maridoe Samaritan Fund and help those caddies who have been affected,’ Huddleston said.
