The PGA Tour has announced that American software company Workday will assume sponsorship for an official Tour event to replace the recently cancelled John Deere Classic.
Financial reasons are believed to be behind the cancellation of the John Deere Classic, won by South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli last year.
Frittelli won’t defend John Deere Classic
The new event, however, will follow immediately after the Memorial Tournament from 16-19 July and will also take place at the same location as the Memorial at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
The PGA Tour has indicated that more details regarding the new official event will be given in due time as it continues to get the new season up and running at the Charles Schwab Challenge next week.
