Louis Oosthuizen played himself into contention with a steady 69 while Dylan Frittelli moved up 28 places after a Saturday 67 at The Honda Classic.
Oosthuizen is in solo eighth after two birdies on the back nine at PGA National.
The 35-year-old is enjoying a good week but failed to match the low scoring of those that top the leaderboard. He trails Luke List (66) by five shots with Justin Thomas in second after a 65. In fact, all seven players that are above him at the 54-hole mark went lower on moving day.
Oosthuizen’s front nine was again responsible for his stutter. A bogey on the 6th was his only mark on the card despite fairways being found on regular occasion. He would get back to level for the day with a birdie on the 10th after rolling in his putt from 21 feet.
That would be the distance of his next three birdie tries on the 11th, 12th and 13th but he failed to convert before saving par from the bunker on the 14th with a 15-footer.
He would sink his birdie from a foot longer on the par-three 15th to get to -1 for the day before playing the Bear Trap level after finding the rough off the tee on the last and missing his 21 footer for a four.
Rory Sabbatini is one back of Oosthuizen after a 71 which include two early birdies a trio of drops and then nine straight pars to close.
At level, the same mark as Tiger Woods, is Dylan Frittelli.
Fritelli shot 67 on Saturday to move steadily up the leaderboard as he searches for some valuable World Ranking points and steps up his bid to play in his first Masters in April. He turned level after surrendering his early gains with bogeys on the 7th and 9th – both times he was unable to save par from the greenside bunkers.
Then he turned it on leaving himself a five footer for birdie on the 10th after an iron from 190 yards before back-to-back gains at the 13th and 14th with accurate irons leaving him just 17 feet combined for both birdies.
He will start Sunday’s final round in a share of 11th and a big window of opportunity.
