Thorbjorn Olesen has been withdrawn from this week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship following a positive Covid-19 test.
The first event of the 2021 season in the Race to Dubai tees off at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Thursday, where the European Tour’s best golfers will battle it out.
Olesen, who had his suspension lifted by the Tour midway through last year, returned a positive result prior to his departure to the UAE and therefore hasn’t entered the bio-secure environment.

He will now have to complete a period of self-isolation, with Scotland’s Calum Hill named as his replacement for the week.
The 31-year-old Olesen was charged for assaulting a female flight attendant during a flight from the USA to London in July 2019.
Olesen also urinated in the plane’s aisle and was arrested upon his arrival at Heathrow Airport. The Tour subsequently suspended him from all forms of participation but his case has since been delayed to December 2021.
