Shaun Norris is 12 under par after two rounds at the Leopalace21 Myanmar Open and shared the lead with India’s SSP Chawrasia at the halfway mark of the $750,000 tournament.
“It was tricky today as the winds were swirling around all over the place,’ said Norris. ‘They made the approach shots into the greens quite hard to judge, but if you can give yourself good chances, you can take it on from there.
The two-time Sunshine Tour winner shot consecutive rounds of 66 without a bogey at Royal Mingalardon Golf & Country Club this week. He’ll need to continue the low scoring in order to give himself a chance on Sunday, but he’s playing well enough to do it.
The 33-year-old became a champion on the Asian Tour in October last year after claiming victory at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship. Lifting that silverware will be a huge confidence booster as he looks to win early in the 2016 season.
Fellow South African Keith Horne was also in the mix after carding an impressive 63 on Friday to rise into a share of eighth place on nine under par, while Jbe’ Kruger was tied for 14th on eight under par.
