Phil Mickelson made the turn in 33 on Friday morning at Royal Troon Golf Club to take a five-shot lead at The Open Championship.
The five-time major winner hit a superb approach to within inches of the cup at the eighth hole – named ’Postage Stamp’ – for his third birdie of the day.

He made par at the ninth to remain bogey-free on the Scottish links course, where his 11-under-par total put him five strokes clear of Soren Kjeldsen and Henrik Stenson.
South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel was four-under through 11 holes and shared 14th place on three-under-par for the tournament.
