Rory McIlroy delivered a savage response to accusations of Phil Mickelson gambling on the Ryder Cup.
Professional US gambler Billy Walters, a former close associate of Mickelson, claims in his book Gambler: Secrets from a Life at Risk that the six-time Major winner has placed bets worth a total of more than $1-billion during his career, including a $400,000 wager on the outcome of the 2012 Ryder Cup.

Mickelson took to Twitter to deny the allegations.

When McIlroy was asked about the allegations against Mickelson during the St Jude Championship, he responded: “At least he can bet on the Ryder Cup this year because he won’t be a part of it.”

Mickelson has played in a record 12 Ryder Cups for the US but won’t feature in the 2023 edition due to his move to LIV Golf.
