Zander Lombard shot 70 at Albatross Golf Resort on Friday to move from outside the cut line to a share of 53rd at the D+D Real Czech Masters.
The 21-year-old has three top-10s on the European Tour this season and ranks 84th in the Race to Dubai. His goal for the year is to make the Finals Series, but that means finishing the regular season ranked 60th or better.
On Friday Lombard rose 39 places up the leaderboard with his two-under-par second round and will be confident that he can keep the momentum on Saturday. He was joined on level-par for the tournament by Rory Sabbatini, who carded 72, 72 to make the cut.
Three of the four players tied for first place were Englishmen Tommy Fleetwood, Matthew Fitzpatrick, David Howell, joined by Sweden’s Robert Karlsson.
Dean Burmester and Darryn Lloyd were the top South Africans and shared 35th place on one under par. Jean Hugo, Richard Sterne, and Tjaart van der Walt all missed the cut.
