A flawless 65 helped Louis De Jager join Zander Lombard as new European Tour members after the final round of Q-School in Spain.
De Jager started the day three strokes off the top 25 but birdied his first two holes to get his round off to the perfect start.
He secured his fourth birdie of the day at the ninth as he built up a healthy bit of steam. A birdie at the 11th and then a string of pars saw him arrive on the 18th all but assured of his playing rights in Europe next year.
A birdie to close was just reward for a superb round as he finished in the group sharing 13th place after rising 24 places on the final day of the six-round event.
De Jager joins Lombard in securing his card after the latter was counted out of winning at Lumine Golf Club. Lombard went into the day tied for the lead but was overtaken by Spain’s Alejandro Canizares after drops at 12 and 16.
A birdie to close put Lombard, who lost his card at the end of the current Race to Dubai cut-off, level with the Spaniard but the Q-School rules dictate the player shooting the lower final round is declared the winner.
Bryce Easton, who started Friday alongside De Jager, missed out after repeating Thursday’s 72.
