The conditions were tricky on day two of the RBC Canadian Open, but outsider Luke List remained in a share of the lead after carding one-under-par 71 at Glen Abbey Golf Club.
The world number 307 was a surprise leader alongside Dustin Johnson after both players shot 66 on Thursday. The pair matched each other again on Friday with rounds of 71 to make the weekend tied at the top on seven-under-par.
‘Obviously Dustin’s one of the hottest players in the game, so playing with him or around him is always good right now,’ said List. ‘I’m excited. Two more days of this golf course, it’s a challenge out there.’
Canadian amateur Jared du Toit joined a tie for third place on six-under that included rookie sensation John Rahm and American Kelly Kraft.
Zimbabwe’s Brendon de Jonge was thereabouts in a share of sixth place on five-under-par, while South African George Coetzee, Thomas Aiken, and Tyrone van Aswegen all shared 36th place on level-par for the tournament.
List, meanwhile, was preparing to compete alongside the current US Open champ and world number two.
‘I just am trying to stay in the moment and all that cliché stuff. But for me that’s what my job is right this second, and that’s what I’ll try to focus on,’ he concluded.
