Lee Westwood has jokingly said his body is starting to feel the strain after he secured back-to-back runner-up finishes at the past two PGA Tour events.
The 47-year-old, who won a third Race to Dubai title last year, went into the final round of the PLAYERS Championship as the leader, but fell one shot short of Justin Thomas.
Westwood also had to settle for second spot at last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational where Bryson DeChambeau came out on top, and the Englishman admitted that his body felt slightly tired over the past four rounds.

‘I hate to say but it could be age catching up with me,’ Westwood joked in his interview at the end of the round with Sky Sports.
‘Yesterday [Saturday] I felt me legs were just starting to get a bit tired and weak, and today [Sunday] I just didn’t feel like I had my legs under me. I was hitting shots that I don’t normally hit and the ones right off 2, 4 and 11 were poor shots.
‘Couldn’t quite find the strike. Just something to work on. It was one of those for battling and I felt like I battled all day. Made some great par-saves and holed some nice putts. Slightly disappointed that I didn’t win but you can’t be too unhappy with a second-place finish at the PLAYERS Championship.’
Westwood struggled on the opening few holes and headed into the 18th on Sunday, two shots adrift from Thomas, the clubhouse leader.
In the end, a birdie was all he could manage, falling agonisingly close of forcing a playoff in Florida.
