Renowned caddie Max Zechmann collapsed at the 13th hole during the first round of the Dubai Ladies Masters and passed away, despite the attention of medical staff.
He was on the bag for France’s Anne-Lise Caudal (pictured centre) and the Ladies European Tour opted to suspend play until Thursday morning in light of the situation.
‘Everyone at the Ladies European Tour is extremely shocked and saddened by this sudden death,’ said LET CEO Ivan Khodabakhsh said. ‘And therefore we have taken the decision to suspend first-round play as a mark of respect.’
Players took to Twitter to lament the passing of a popular bagman and good character on tour, who will be sorely missed.
