South Africa’s Jacques Kruyswijk carded a four-under-par 68 on Thursday to conclude the opening round of the Austrian Golf Open in a share for second spot.
The European Tour resumed action at the Diamond Country Club where players met chilly conditions in Vienna since the start of the week.
The cold, however, didn’t impact Kruyswijk too much and he shot up the leaderboard with an excellent performance to kickstart his weekend.
Two birdies on the front nine were backed up by three more after the turn, while he dropped a single shot on the 11th hole.

That had Kruyswijk signing off in T2 for the first round, one shot behind Spaniard Alejandro Canizares, who took the opening-round lead thanks to a five-under-par 67.

Dean Burmester struggled during his opening round, signing off on two over par, while Louis de Jager, Haydn Porteous and Bryce Easton went four over.
Justin Harding completed his first round on five over with a lot of work to do on Friday to make the cut for the weekend.
