The Koro Creek Bushveld and Golf Estate once again proved to be the lowest scoring course at the 2020 Limpopo Championship on Friday after Jacques Kruyswijk and Louis de Jager stormed to a tied second round lead, writes ANDRE HUISAMEN.
The pair both shot rounds of 64 to share the lead at 13 under par heading into the weekend’s exciting action – two strokes ahead of Wilco Nienaber, who is on 11 under par and in third place.
Kruyswijk carded seven birdies during his round and despite making a bogey on the par 4 11th hole, the 27-year-old finished his round with an excellent eagle on the 18th.
De Jager on the other hand managed a second successive bogey-free round after shooting 67 on Thursday.
Five birdies on the front nine and three on the back on Friday has placed him in a very strong and confident position to go all the way on Sunday.
Moving day on Saturday, though, should provide a lot of fireworks with a whole host of players in contention to make a surge up the leaderboard.
Overnight leader Daniel van Tonder failed to replicate his good opening round on Friday and only managed an even par score to remain on 9 under and in T5.
He is alongside defending champion JC Ritchie, while Hennie du Plessis is one stroke ahead on ten under par and in 4th position.
