After adding his second Major of the season, Brooks Koepka moved into second place in the world rankings while Brandon Stone got back inside the top 100.
Koepka, who edged Tiger Woods by two at Bellerive on Sunday, moved past Justin Thomas, who at one point looked likely to get his name into playoff contention, and Justin Rose into second place in the updated rankings.
Woods moved up 25 places to 26 in the world after finishing solo second.
Dustin Johnson holds a 0.3 lead over countryman Koepka after the world number one faded from the picture with weekend rounds of 72-69.
Fiery Spaniard Jon Rahm moved into fifth with Francesco Molinari and Rory McIlroy behind him after a top-five finish at the PGA Championship.
The year’s final Major also allowed South Africa’s Stone the chance at a rankings boost and after closing with a 68, he was not only the country’s best at Bellerive but his T12 finish was good enough to lift him 14 places to 96th in the world.
It is a return one year in the making as he last took a position in the leading 100 players after the same event 12 months ago. Since then, he has struggled to implement his range work into competitive play and slipped as low as 371st before a win in Scotland launched him back up the rankings.
Louis Oosthuizen, who skipped this week to rest an injured back, dropped one place to 35th, two ahead of Branden Grace.
Charl Schwartzel slumped to a final round 75, dropping 36 places to T42 and with it a world ranking of 54th on Monday, two worse than he started the 100th playing of the PGA Championship.
