Jean Hugo is an unassuming character on the local circuit, but also tied-sixth for most Sunshine Tour wins. His talent hasn’t translated across the pond, but he could make it big at the Porsche European Open this week.
Hugo was tied for seventh place on 10 under par after two rounds, both of which had sporadic weather delays.
Frenchman Alexander Levy was out in front on 17 under par after taking advantage of the soft course and receptive greens.
Hugo, meanwhile, made four birdies in a row to start his round and turned in 30 strokes, but parred his way home for a second consecutive round of 66 at Bad Griesbach resort.
Justin Walters dropped a shot at the last and slipped into a share of 18th place on seven under par. He’s coming into form at just the right time, with five events left before European Tour’s The Final Series, which includes the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
