It’s been a challenging couple of days for the 22-year-old Garrick Higgo but the South African managed to conclude his first Major with an excellent display on Sunday.
Higgo, hoping to recover after a very difficult moving day in Kiawah Island, signed off from South Carolina with a final-round 69.
Despite securing a spot after Friday’s cut, Higgo started the final round on 11 over par, following a torrid third-round 78 on Saturday.

Fortunately, though, Higgo managed to show some of that great composure, that was evident in his recent European Tour success, by going three under on Sunday.
It might not have had a seismic affect on the leaderboard outcome for the week – but given that it was his maiden appearance at a Major – Higgo’s eight over reflects much better after that final round.
The left-hander started with a bang in his last round, sinking six birdies during the first nine holes. A double-bogey and two further drop shots after the turn, though, halted what might’ve been an even lower round for him.
Nonetheless, Higgo signed off with eight birdies in total across the 18 holes on Sunday.
