Justin Harding, a two in a row winner on the Asian Tour, heads the Fiji International presented by Fiji Airways field, the third consecutive year it features as a European Tour event.
Harding leads the field after dipping into the world’s top 100, a feat that achieved on the back of two wins on the bounce since a chance start two at the Indonesia Open. A call from a senior Sunshine Tour official to his colleague in Asia helped Harding into that field, that he would go on to top by a single stroke.
His six shot win at the Royal Cup sent Harding into the top 100, a position which earned the 32-year-old Stellenbosch pro a place at the PGA Championship, the final Major of the year at Bellerive Country Club.
Vijay Singh designed the Championship Course at Natadola Bay in 2009. The Fijian golfing legend is joined in the field this year by former world number one and four-time Major champion Ernie Els, as the South African Presidents Cup Captain makes his debut in the event.
Els and Harding are joined by Justin Walters and Jbe Kruger.
The European Tour’s Race to Dubai touches down at many stunning venues throughout the season, and the Championship Course at Natadola Bay is certainly one of the most scenic. With a dramatic landscape moving from rolling pastures to pristine beachfront, and with the sparkling backdrop of the Pacific Ocean on 15 of the 18 holes, it’s an idyllic golfing location.
