Branden Grace shot a second-round five-under-par 67 at Castle Stuart Golf Links to trail the clubhouse leader, Danny Lee, by one shot at the Aberdeen Asset Managment Scottish Open on Friday.
The world number 10 made the most of the morning conditions as he collected three birdies and a bogey on his outward nine (started on the 10th). Coming back home, the South African holed out for birdies at the first and second before adding another at the sixth. An unfortunate dropped shot at the seventh was put right with a birdie at the next hole.
A par on his 18th (the ninth) hole of the day saw the two-time Qatar Masters champion share second place alongside Matteo Manassero at six-under-par. New Zealand’s Lee shot a 66 that was devoid of any dropped shots to end the day at seven-under-par, one shot clear of the pack.
Other South Africans to have completed their second rounds were Haydn Porteous (73), Justin Walters (70), and Albert Venter (73), while Darren Fichardt and Trevor Fisher Jnr withdrew in Scotland.
