Branden Grace wrapped up his somewhat disappointing bid for the Claret Jug with a level par 71 on Sunday at Royal Portrush.
The South African managed to hit 57.14% fairways in regulation in the final round with his greens in regulation number dropping to 55.56%.
He opened par-birdie-par before his first bogey of the day came at the fourth. Grace then bounced back with a birdie at the fifth and another at the seventh.
But once more he stumbled as he walked off the eighth green with a bogey.
For the third time this tournament, he made the turn with a birdie but that would be his fourth and final of the round as he came home in two over par to finish The Open at Royal Portrush three over par and sharing 56th place alongside the likes of Shubhankar Sharma and Bubba Watson.
Grace averaged 1.61 putts, shaving just 0.08 off his week’s stats.
