South Africa’s Branden Grace dropped two spots in the latest official world golf rankings as he dips perilously close to the 50th position.
Grace dropped to 44th place after he finished in a share of 47th place at the Dunhill Links on Sunday despite playing the last 10 holes in four under par.
The 29-year-old will be wary of sliding any further with the only the top 50 in the world guaranteed an invite to The Masters in April next year.
The leading two South Africans – Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel – were not in action this week after taking a break following their unsuccessful campaign in the Presidents Cup. Oosthuizen’s lack of action did not cost him as he retains 20th spot but Schwartzel moved down one to sit in 28th after Dunhill Links winner Tyrrell Hatton moved up to 22nd in the world.
Just four South Africans remain in the top 100 with Dylan Frittelli the final player after Oosthuizen, Schwartzel and Grace.
Frittelli, who won in Austria earlier in the year, fired a final round 68 at St Andrews to finish T36 remained in 91st place.
There were no changes at the top of the standings except for US Open winner Brooks Koepka moving into 10th with Masters winner Sergio Garcia dropping to 11th.
