The South African sports community has been asked to remain patient and tolerant by government, who says that the directions announced by minister Nathi Mthethwa are still to be published.
The weekend’s announcement left most amateur players and many sporting organisations on the sidelines but some are still hopeful of an ‘extra time’-like alteration.
Department of Sport, Arts and Culture statement:
‘On Saturday 30th May 2020, the Honourable Minister Nathi Mthethwa announced details of the Directions for Sport, Arts and Culture under the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of 2002) to the media and public.
‘The directions which Minister Nathi Mthethwa announced focused primarily on sectoral implications in relation to the Government Level 3 Risk adjustment strategy to be employed in preventing and combating the spread of COVID- 19 upon commencement with their various activities inclusive of resumption of training and matches.

‘The process of submission of information which all affected stakeholders will have to undertake will also be outlined.’
