GolfRSA has announced strict methods and protocols to ensure a safe and risk-free environment once golf returns.
Professional golf has been allowed by government since last week but GolfRSA continues its fight and negotiations with the Department of Sport to allow amateur competitions to proceed.
Many clubs across the country have been dealt a significant financial blow with GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn saying last week that the majority of them could close down if they don’t reopen in the weeks to come.
Hepburn hopeful on government engagements
The governing body is now wants to prove its cooperation within health guidelines set out by government in the hope that minister Nathi Mthethwa will permit golfers to return.
Some of the proposed rules by GolfRSA state that no golfer will be allowed to touch the flagstick, while searching for stray balls is also prohibited.
As expected, clubhouses will remain closed with no alcohol sold as golfers are advised to leave the golf course immediately after their respective rounds. Social distancing measures must also be followed at all times.
